Product Abstract: An unusual and complex fragrance also known as “the poor man’s jasmine” due to its floral intensity, produced from the early morning harvested flower of the Cananga odorata tree native to and cultivated in Madagascar, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as Mayotte, and the Comoros islands, and more recently Brazil and the Reunion islands. The tree grows to a height of 7ft, but can also grow wildly in some areas to heights of 66ft and even 100ft. The name comes from the expression “alang-ilang” used by many states in the Philippines, in which this term implies something that is “hanging” or “fluttering”, due to how the flowers droop and tremble. It is widely used in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, and even as a food ingredient as a flavouring agent. In some countries, it is used for ceremonial purposes. In aromatherapy, it is used as an anti-depressive, as a sedative, treat trauma and phobias, improve the feeling of well-being, relieve anxiety, and increase self-esteem.
