Product Abstract: From the fresh peel of the fruit of Citrus aurantifolia that is grown throughout the world including Central America, Mexico, Florida, Haiti, Barbados and Italy. In Central America, this tree produces flowers and fruit all year-round. Traditional uses were to prepare a tea from the leaves and the oils in order to relieve the common cold and flu, and to eat the fruit to prevent scurvy, since it is an excellent source of Vitamin C. Today, it has been shown to help with various diseases including gastrointestinal disorders, insomnia, headaches and cardiovascular disease due to its antiseptic, antioxidant, antispasmodic, sedative and stimulant properties. Additionally, it is used in many culinary dishes around the world and as a popular flavoring agent in many foods, such as carbonated beverages, candies, pie fillings, etc.
